This helps satisfy not only your customers, but also the consumers of today. And of tomorrow.Your path to a sustainable future – with our extensive service portfolio. We live textiles. Genetically modified cotton Screening | Identification | Quantification Testing: Accredited testing of cotton textile precursors for genetically modified organisms (GMO) according to the ISO/IWA 32:2019 protocol (GOTS compliant), or according to the requirements of STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX ® . In case of positive GMO screening, quantification of the genetically modified cotton lines in the sample (raw cotton) possible. Benefit: As a manufacturer, brand, certification agency or consumer protection organisation, you benefit from clear yes/no statements regarding GMO-free cotton. Quantification offers advantages in terms of transparency of supply chains & fraud management. Biodegradability Testing: Analysis of the ecological impact of textiles and Hohenstein test setup based on DIN standard EN ISO 11721/846/13432. Benefit: Disposing of textiles in an environmentally responsible manner has become an important issue. Accordingly, we examine closely what actually happens to different fibre-based materials when they decompose in the soil – e.g. how quickly they disintegrate, what remains of them and whether any of their constituents actually harm the soil or environment (ecotoxicology).Microfibre analysis Testing: Measuring the mass of shed material using filtration according to the University of Leeds (UoL/ TMC) method, or quantification of fibre properties and distribution using the Hohenstein Method of dynamic image analysis (DIA). Benefit: We can analyse textiles or laundry water – and you can develop or source more sustainable materials. The advantage is that you can assess the status quo of microparticle shedding, identify fibre-based microparticles, analyse microplastics and receive independent verification of your own assessments and claims. Digital fitting and material parameters Services: We digitise the material parameters of your clothing fabrics and provide exact data for generating realistic 3D simulations using common software systems. Benefit: Using 3D technology to design materials, develop models and communicate product properties not only makes processes more efficient and sustainable, it saves resources and expedites your collections to the point of sale. Hohenstein provides support and advice where you need it most, especially if you are planning to optimise certain stages of the digital process – such as 3D design, visualisation, developing patterns and prototypes, testing garment fit or writing production documentation. Wastewater testing Testing: Analysis of production wastewater in accordance with international standards based on conventional parameters, or for compliance with textile initiatives (e.g. Greenpeace DETOX campaign requirements, ZDHC, STeP by OEKO-TEX ® , DETOX TO ZERO by OEKO-TEX ® ). Benefit: Hohenstein offers the assurance that your production complies with a variety of international specifications and initiatives. By testing wastewater, we are helping the industry on its journey to minimising the emission of potentially hazardous chemicals.Chemical management Testing: Chemical testing for textile and leather production in accordance with ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX ® certification, assessment of the chemical management procedures followed at your production sites in keeping with STeP by OEKO-TEX ® certification and the criteria of DETOX TO ZERO by OEKO-TEX ® . Benefit: Establishing and monitoring chemical management – starting with procurement allows you to minimise the harmful impact of chemicals on people and nature, and meet the goals of Greenpeace’s DETOX campaign. Occupational safety, health and social factors Testing: We conduct audits on site at production facilities to check and assess for compliance with legal requirements and international standards when it comes to human rights and fair working conditions. Benefit: Independent certification through programs such as STeP by OEKO-TEX ® or the Green Button allows you to provide credible evidence that you and your suppliers respect social responsibility and human rights Transparent supply chains Services: Our services offer practical support in meeting a key demand of policymakers, NGOs and consumers: transparent supply chains. Benefit: The MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX ® label provides consumers with a clear indication of which manufacturing companies were involved in the production of textile and leather products. Products can be traced online at any time by entering a product ID. The myOEKO-TEX ® website also provides companies with a vehicle for centrally managing sustainability issues affecting their supply chains.7 6 | The life cycle of textiles.
